Visual Interaction Designer

Position Summary:
Concerro is seeking a creative, hard-working individual to join its San Diego team as a Visual Interaction Designer. You’ll be based in the San Diego office. This position reports to the Product Architect in the Engineering department.This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to work with an exciting product in a growing market.
Key Activities:
- Significant experience in real world-human interaction design and design problem resolution (not just artistic or academic exercises)
- Knowledge of UX Deliverables: Guidelines and specification documents; wireframes and delta charts.
- Deeply understand relevant tools and technologies and provides sound recommendations on their use
- Demonstrated ability to complete assignments within deadlines
- Ability to work in macro or micro environment: able to both understand the strategic value and business dynamic of the organizations product to the ability to finesse visual designs at a vector or pixel level.
- Experienced in generating graphic representations that express causal relationship between data in a creative and rich visual language.
- Extensive understanding of temporal qualities of good visual design. Use of time based techniques for establishing context and maintaining user engagement. Has the ability to express this understanding use Flash or equivalent time-based software authoring environment.
- Position may require development of interactions programmatically (through coding or scripting) or through hand-crafted animations, or via some combination of the two.
Communication
- Strong ability to communicate effectively with less technically-oriented (or software-oriented) designers and clients
- Consults with client services team and product management team and maintains strategic relationship
- Communicates difficult scenarios to the client services team and product management team
- Coaches and provides assistance to those at Concerro who are less familiar with software development
Additional Skills Required:
Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree, at least 2-3 years of professional experience in time-based media, strong information visualization skills, prototyping skills, and likewise be comfortable working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
Candidates should demonstrate an ability to work across a range of areas including: animation/interaction prototyping; product interaction; and software tools
- Layout / UI design (e.g. using Illustrator, Visio, Photoshop, Fireworks, etc)
- Information Architecture
- Concept Model Design
- UI Development for Functionality
- Visual UI Development
- Video editing and post production
- Print-based Communication Design
- Time-based prototyping (Flash and/or other languages) (nice to have but not required)
